With summer upon us, there’s been a burst of new life in the city of love. There’s nothing like blue skies and the warm sun to make you feel the full effect of Paris perfection. Throughout the summer months, there is an endless array of activities and events to enjoy in Paris. Whether it be a pop-up collaboration between your favorite brand and a local coffee shop, an all-day festival featuring your favorite artists, or the “fête du cinema” celebrating films. Paris welcomes the long days of summer with open arms. Along with the hustle and bustle, there’s a rise in inspiration and experimentation in the city. With visitors from all over the world trying out their new vacation looks and locals bringing out their warm-weather wardrobes. In addition to the out-of-the-box looks seen during fashion week at the end of June. Summer in Paris is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try creative styles. These are some of the best we’ve seen in the city so far:

Pinks, Yellows, Greens, and Blues

As the summer weather begins to peek through, so do the colors in Parisian closets. This year it’s been all about bold colors - lots of pinks, yellows, greens, and blues. There’s so much variety in how Parisians style their colored pieces. I often see color popping up in numerous pieces, for instance, a bag and shoes may both be pink, or a yellow top with a green bag. It can make a look pop when you bounce complementary colors off one another. If you’re a bit iffy about color I would recommend looking for colored prints. You can find so much color in polka dots, stripes, paisley, etc. As someone who personally finds it difficult to style bolder colors into their neutral wardrobe, I’d opt for accessories when you want to spice up an outfit. Pops of color can go great with white and black while allowing you to feel a bit summery.

I love this bright pink @taina.csg is wearing. It’s the perfect cute and casual summer outfit that can be easily styled upscale or more casual. Boxer shorts have been a bit of a trend recently and these shorts can be styled to match that vibe.

These tie pants are such a fun vibe for a beach moment or a cooler city day. This is a perfect way to play with both print and color. Also helps that they’re cozy!

The mix of patterns and colors in this look is everything! Experimenting with different shades of one color or pops of color in accessories pulls together an outfit in the best way.

Silver Accents

All around Paris, we’ve been seeing silver accents in various forms. Most popularly in bags and shoes, but also jewelry. In previous years I feel as though gold was all the rage with the clean girl aesthetic, with silver being put on the back burner. By no means is gold “out”, but it needs to make room for silver's return. The two can play fairly with the micro trend of mixed metals. Some may think that silver may clash with the city chic aesthetic but after observing the Parisian stylings I fully disagree! Though there are various unique ways to invite silver into your wardrobe the most popular and easily flattering are bags, studded shoes, and chunky jewelry. If you want to fully dive into the look I’ve seen some don silver mini skirts and tanks!

This look reminds me of many I’ve seen around the city. I love the yellow flats for that pop of spring and summer color paired with traditional Parisian neutrals. The silver bag is the perfect statement bag to tie the look together.

These are the statement shoes of the summer! There are so many studded ballet flats on the streets of Paris and I’m all for it. If you’re looking to join in on the silver trend, shoes are the perfect subtle statement piece.

Denim on denim has been an ongoing style that allows for fun pops of color. I love how @tinvcb styled her Canadian tuxedo with studded flats and a silver cross body. It blends perfectly with the denim but looks seamless!

Chunky jewelry is everything lately! By utilizing bold jewelry pieces you can remain relaxed with your outfit and still feel upscaled. The handbag is a perfect addition to complement the jewelry.

Shades, Shapes & Textures

A holy grail statement I once heard (via TikTok of course) always sticks with me while styling an outfit - “If it’s not interesting through color it must be interesting through shape, if it’s not interesting through shape it must be interesting through texture, if it’s not interesting through texture it must be interesting through color”. This is one of the rules that Parisians have fully mastered. As most don’t play with bolder colors, I’ve noticed they’ll lean towards various shades of one color or one color in different textures and shapes. These elements help the outfit look complex when remaining effortless at its core. Mesh, leather, and suede are three holy grail textiles that can elevate an outfit in an instant. Especially in warmer months when it’s harder to layer or pair pieces to get “the look” I find that mesh can be a game changer. Leather and suede can be utilized in nearly every way, whether that be a bag, shoes, or a light jacket. Being that they’re both an eye-catching material it can add so much to an outfit.

This is a key example of layering and playing with shades. Without the white tee underneath the top layer, there would be a lack of separation between the varying shades of brown. I also adore this little suede bag with the matching pants!

This layer is the perfect addition to this outfit in adding shape and texture. Without it, the look would have less edge and wow factor.

Capris

I know what you’re thinking…capris? At first sight of capris in Paris, I was a bit skeptical myself, I don’t think I’ve owned a pair since 2010! But after much contemplation, I’m all for capris as a fun and chic summer look. I feel like capris are the perfect middle between shorts and pants that can still be styled both casually and a bit more upscale. One thing to keep in mind with capris is the shape and length. You can opt for a flared look or a sleek skinny pant. I find that a mid-calf cut is most flattering for everyone but feel free to experiment with what works best for you. Once you figure out which style you love it’s important to think about the proportions of your outfit. Fitted capris with a loose top and vice versa will make for a balanced look. In the city I’ve seen perfectly paired sandals, loafers, and flats - this makes a world of difference in accomplishing the right vibe.

Statement Shades

Accessories are the key to elevating any outfit. One of my favorite ways to do this is through bold sunnies. You can take the most basic look and instantly create a vibe with the simple addition of sunglasses. Whether you’re wearing them traditionally, or have them tucked into a pocket or shirt, they add a pop of structure and color. If you’re not into the maximalist vibe but still want to add spice to your outfit sunnies are the perfect way to do so! I find that colorful shades have been all the rage in Paris, especially with the summer in full bloom. Lots of reds, blues, and oranges make for perfect additions to the Parisian neutrals. Similar to other pieces, it’s important to find which shape compliments your face best. If you’re like me and have a bit of a round face with bolder brows, opt for angular frames!

Orange lenses have picked up traction again in Paris. These are such a fun statement accessory, channeling modernity and the 70s at the same time!

While there are plenty of trends to be inspired by in Paris, these are some of my favorites for summer! I hope you've been able to pull some inspiration for your warm-weather wardrobe and wish you all an eventful summer. Bisous!
